Documentation (API v1.0)
Why care about OpenSocial app in RoamAbout?
OpenSocial defines a common set of APIs for applications across multiple social networking websites. With standard JavaScript and HTML, developers can create apps that access a social network and the activities within the network.
A common API means you have less to learn to build apps for several social networking websites. OpenSocial is currently being developed by a broad set of members from the web community. The ultimate goal is for any social website to be able to implement the API and host 3rd party social applications.
Enabling your OpenSocial app to run in RoamAbout will allow the user to run your app while on any website and still connect to social networks of choice. Of course, the user can only connect to the social networks that support the Opensocial app.
Clicking on the OpenSocial app while on any website opens an overlay on the webpage. The user can easily switch between social networks within the overlay. The user can invoke your OpenSocial app contextually, making your app even more valuable to the user.
